Here’s What I Learned Freelancing: There’s More To Freelancing Than Freelancing.

In the past few months, I’ve learned that in order to see increased success with my freelance writing, I have to take things up a notch.

First of all, I need to beef up my social media presence on Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, Facebook, even Pinterest. Twitter is on the map, too. So see, I’m kept busy with writing, but if I want to ramp up the money coming in and pave the way to generating a few methods of passive income. Social media includes posting regularly and in various formats: video, still images, Reels, everything.

It’s honestly exhausting at times.

Furthermore, posting on social media requires planning out the content. What’s my aim? What is my content? Of course, it’s freelance-related, but there’s posting content to position me as an authority/thought leader and be informative & entertaining.

Second, opening up the platforms and moving around; freelance platforms like sellers to keep active on their sites to rank them higher. Ergo, even if things are quiet on the homefront, sellers like me have to open up Fiverr and click around to show we haven’t forgotten our accounts.

I mean, it makes sense, but it’s still another thing to remember to do.

Of course, what about a YouTube channel to further everything I do on social media? That’s another thing on the list to boost my notoriety/presence/credibility and perhaps gain enough followers on at least a few of those platforms to turn those into income streams.

Lastly, posting on Medium.

These actions are all in addition to the act of freelancing itself. The man-hours required to get my writing done and everything to substantiate that act are insane!

BUT — you know what — it’s all part of making the dream work. I set out to be a freelance copywriter, and it will happen. If I want to grow this thing, social media, videos, posts, blogs, etc., all need to happen. But, of course, it’s also worth it. Yeah, it’s exhausting, but it’s fun, too. If it weren’t for doing all this, I wouldn’t have grown out of my comfort zone. But that’s a post for another time.
