Here’s One Piece Of Wisdom I Must Impart To My Fellow Copywriters

Before I get started, this isn’t a piece that calls anyone out, nor am I saying, “I’m better than you” or “You suck if this is you.” I wrote this, made a TikTok, a Reel, and a carousel Instagram post to raise awareness to my fellow freelance copywriters that many of us have writing mistakes on our sites and platforms that are ruining our businesses.

That said, let’s get started.

If you’re a freelance copywriter, PROOFREAD the content on your websites and freelance platform profiles. I’m on several platforms as a freelance writer, and I see so many profiles with blatant spelling or grammatical errors.

How does someone tell potential buyers that they are a copywriting expert when there are errors in the copy saying this?

I get it; not every copywriter is an English major who had grammar and spelling knowledge drilled into them. I wasn’t that way either (well, the English major part doesn’t apply, but my mom is a retired copy editor and proofreader). Even so, there are programs that correct those mistakes for you and give suggestions to make your copy even better! I use Grammarly, and I love it! Trust me; it’s okay if you write things and have errors in them as long as mistakes are corrected before submission or publishing. That’s all.

If you’re on freelance platforms or have a website, take another look at the copy and look for errors. Honestly, it’s going to be the best thing you can do for your freelance writing business.
